You can find out all the Detroit area transit hapenings at one time, Supporter!

Please join us at TRU's Annual Meeting next Monday, January 30, for presentations from and Q&A with the Detroit area's top transit executives about the State of Detroit Area Transit, including:

  • RTA CEO Michael Ford
  • DDOT Director Dan Dirks
  • SMART General Manager John Hertel
  • M-1 Rail's Sommer Woods

Doors open at 5:30pm for registration, refreshments and a networking reception with interactive small group activities. The program will run 6:00 – 8:00pm. A $5 donation is suggested to cover event costs but no one will be turned away.

The event will be at the MSU Detroit Center - 3408 Woodward, just south of the Mack stop. It's on all the Woodward bus lines and free, secure parking is available at a lot on Stimson Rd near Cass Ave.

Please RSVP by Wednesday (so we know how much food to order). This event is open to everyone, so invite your friends too!

This Annual Meeting will also include a vote on potential new board members for TRU's Board of Directors, the volunteer governing body that shapes TRU's priorities and oversees our work. This year's slate of candidates is:

  • Sam Butler, a community development professional from SW Detroit with a Masters in Urban Planning who is the Director of Doing Development Differently in Metro Detroit (D4)
  • Tanise Hill, a Detroiter who works for the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO collaborating between labor, community groups and faith-based organizations and chair of Interfaith Worker Justice
  • Julie Tschirhart, a U of M Urban Planning Master student focused on transportation planning who grew up riding SMART and DDOT and regularly rides Ann Arbor’s transit

With a donation to TRU of as little as $5, you too can cast a vote, while making possible TRU's essential transit advocacy work. Nonmembers are welcome to attend but will not be able to cast a vote in the Board election.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks,
Megan
