Support TRU's work to improve Detroit Transit!
Did you see it, Supporter?
There was a streetcar on Woodward Avenue today, for the first time in 60 years!
While the M-1 Rail QLINE is still in testing and won't be accepting passengers until April, this is a powerful demonstration of transit's potential for Detroit!
The effort to bring rail service back to Woodward had dozens of ups and downs and false starts over decades, but through the ongoing diligent work of strong supporters, the streetcar rode today.
So too will the effort for regional transit ride again!
Regional transit efforts suffered a big setback last month, but these efforts to expand transit improvements well beyond the 3.5 mile stretch of M-1 Rail will continue.
TRU has worked for 17 years to build broad support for the need for more and better transit, to involve diverse voices in transportation decision-making, and to hold transit providers accountable.
With your support, we'll redouble these efforts! TRU will expand our outreach efforts to build regional support for transit investment. TRU will build on the 250 endorsements of the ballot campaign and grow the voices involved in future transportation decisions. And TRU will continue to hold transit providers accountable - whether that's DDOT, SMART, RTA, or M-1 Rail. We will fight for reliable transit, both the small immediate improvements we need today and the major long-term changes that will transform our region.
Your financial support is essential for TRU to continue the fight for improved transit. Don't give up on transit now! Donate to TRU today!
So enjoy the videos showing the M-1 Rail QLINE testing today, as we work to expand high quality transit all throughout our region. Thanks for your help in making it happen!
