We've made it to the ninth inning in the regional transit ballgame, Supporter, but we're at risk of striking out!

The RTA's scheduled vote to finally place regional transit funding on the ballot stalled last week when the Macomb and Oakland board members refused to support it, threatening regional transit for our entire region!

The RTA has rescheduled this historic vote for this Thursday, July 28. We NEED Macomb and Oakland to support it or our chances for the reliable regional transit we need could be lost.

We need all transit supporters who live or work in Macomb or Oakland Counties to call the County Executives and tell them Let the People Vote on Regional Transit!

Call Macomb Exec Mark Hackel at 586-469-7001

Call Oakland Exec Brooks Patterson at 248-858-0480

(The Wayne and Washtenaw leaders have already committed to support the Regional Transit Plan and could use a thank you.)

Oakland and Macomb leaders seem to be forgetting the tens of thousands of people left stranded or struggling because of the gaps in our current transit system. Let’s remind them!

Remind them of the thousands of seniors, people with disabilities, workers, and students who can't reach jobs, schoos, doctors and stores because our region lacks effective regional transit.

Remind them how other metro regions are outcompeting our region. We need to complete against Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Cleveland, not Detroit, Livonia, and Ann Arbor!

Remind them that the RTA plan already depends on a vote of the people. The County Executives and RTA Board members should put the RTA plan on the ballot to let the people decide!

Please let me know what you hear, and I'll let you know what happens when the RTA board meetings on Thursday!

We will also be hosting a press conference tomorrow morning 10am at the Congregational Church of Birmingham in Bloomfield Hills to echo these important messages to area press. Join us or watch for us on Facebook!

Thanks,
Megan
