How often do you cross city borders, Supporter?
If you're like me, it's dozens of times each week.
Our lives don't stop at our city borders. Transit shouldn't either.
Nine years ago, the Livonia City Council decided to quit the SMART regional bus system and provide their own far more limited local shuttle service instead. This left many riders who lived, worked, or shopped in Livonia stranded. Some people even lost their jobs because of it.
Now (as reported by the Free Press), Livonia City Council is discussing whether to rejoin the regional system by opting back in to SMART! This would provide essential travel options for seniors, people with disabilities and low income workers, and would be a great show of support for working together as a region.
If you live, work, or shop in Livonia, please ACT NOW:
Please tell the Livonia City Council to support regional efforts to improve transit.
It's good for workers, for seniors, and for our economy!
1) If at all possible, ATTEND the Livonia City Council meeting tonight, Monday March 16, and make a brief comment in support of SMART. The meeting is 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall Auditorium, 33000 Civic Center Drive.
2) If you can't attend, please CALL City Council at 734-466-2256. Ask them to share your support for SMART with the City Council members.
3) I've also made it easy for you to EMAIL Livonia City Council members.
Please make sure to note your personal connection to Livonia to greatly strengthen the impact of your message.
If you know anyone who lives or works in Livonia, please urge them to speak out too!
