Take the Commuter Challenge!

The Commuter Challenge is a month-long event encouraging the use of eco-friendly commuting, such as taking the bus, car- or vanpooling, biking, walking and telecommuting to reduce our carbon footprint, free up traffic congestion and promote our own health.

For every commute a participant logs, they will be entered into a drawing for great prizes, such as Tigers tickets, hotel stays, gift cards and much more!

The Commuter Challenge is great time for you to try a new mode of transportation to work and reap several benefits. In the 2012 challenge we had over 900 participants from over 200 companies. This year we hope to increase these numbers!

How Does the Challenge Work?:
  • Sign up here and start receiving updates and communications on the challenge
  • Explore alternative commutes to work through May 31st
  • Log your trips weekly
  • Win great prizes!

Explore other transportation options to find which mode best fits your lifestyle. So what motivates you?

  • Your Health?

  • Reducing your stress level?

  • Saving money?

  • Reducing your carbon footprint?

"When I took the challenge in 2012, I discovered a new way to commute to work. Now, instead of driving my car to work, I ride the bus. I can read during my commute and not worry about finding a parking spot or dealing with the stress of traffic. Now I use public transportation every day." ~Mike H.

Go ahead…Start exploring your new commute to work!.

Welcome New Baby!

As many of you have heard, I just had a new baby. Baby Natalia Yulia Marker-Owens was born on Wednesday, May 24, at 5:30am, weighing in a 6 pounds 4 ounces.

Mama, big sister Katerina, and the whole family are doing well.

I'll be working limited hours for the next few months as I spend time with my growing family. Ruth and the new staff are taking on much of my work, although I'm still around a few partial days each week.

Thanks for all the warm wishes and patience during this special time.
